The 2022 World Design Capital Conference (WDCC) will be hosted by the Shanghai Municipal People’s Government from September 15 to 18 this year in a hybrid fashion. The main venue is located in the open area on the Bund in Huangpu District.

Shanghai joined UNESCO Creative Cities Network in 2010 as the City of Design. The first WDCC, with the theme of design beyond borders for integration and symbiosis, aimed to create a world-class cooperation and exchange event in the field of design, and contribute to Shanghai’s ambition to become a world-class design capital.

The event is set to implement new development concepts and support the set-up of a new development pattern, while leveraging innovative design to connect technological innovation with industrial innovation, to promote coordination and green sustainable development, to tell Chinese stories in a vividly way so as to be integrated into the global Creative Cities Network, and to meet people’s desire for a better life. This conference will focus on industrial design, architectural design, fashion design, service design and digital design through various forms such as “meetings, exhibitions, shows and awards,” presenting a panoramic view of the new ecosystem of the design industry and the new look of the City of Design.

We sincerely welcome reporters to cover the conference. All reporters who sign up for the 2022 WDCC shall hold a press card (within the validity period) issued by the National Press and Publication Administration. Foreign journalists shall hold a resident press card or a valid journalist visa. According to the relevant pandemic prevention requirements, reporters who participate onsite shall be subject to an invitation-based system, while online media services will be provided for reporters who cannot participate onsite. Please be sure to complete the information submission via the conference’s media registration channel (QR code attached below) by 17:00 on September 8, 2022. The publicity working group of the conference will contact the reporters who pass the review as soon as possible on the follow-up matters.
