Speaker profiles
Zhao Beiwen, female, Ph.D. in Economics, Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences. She is currently the deputy director of the Institute of World Economy (in charge of overall work), researcher, doctoral supervisor, and chief expert of the ‘World Economy’ team of the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences. She is executive director of the tenth and eleventh sessions of the China Society of World Economics, and a member of the expert group of the Shanghai Association for the Promotion of Transformation of Scientific and Technological Achievements. She won the honorary titles of Shanghai May 1st Woman Award, Shanghai March 8th Red Flag Bearer, and Shanghai Model Worker. Researcher Zhao Beiwen has long been engaged in the research of international investment and China’s opening-up strategy. As the project leader, she has presided over more than 20 projects at the provincial and ministerial level and above, including two major projects of the National Social Science Fund. She is the independent or first author in the following publications: “Strategic Synergy in Two-way Investment”, “Strategic Interaction in Opening-up - Policy Synergy in Foreign Trade, Foreign Investment and Financial Development”, “Research on the Transmission Mechanism of Macroeconomic Effects of Foreign Capital”, “WTO Rules and China’s Foreign Investment Policy”, “New Open Economy System: Exploration and Practice in Shanghai”, “Belt and Road Construction and New Directions of Chinese Enterprises’ Outward Direct Investment”, “From Responding to Challenges to Being Proactive - China’s Role in Economic Globalization.”
Zhan Yubo, PhD in economics, Fudan University, and director and researcher of the Western Economics Research Office, Institute of Economics, Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences. His main research areas include wage theory, labor bargaining system and China’s economic transformation. He presided over projects from the National Natural Science Foundation, Shanghai Philosophy and Social Science Planning Office, and the National High-end Think Tank Initiative. He has published more than 30 papers in academic journals such as Management World, World Economy, China Population Science, Shanghai Economic Research and China & World Economy (SSCI). He published two monographs: “Labor Relations, Collective Wage Bargaining, and China’s Economic Transition: Facts and Evidence” and “Relationships, Authority and Political Connections: Private Enterprises’ Financing Expansion in China’s Transitional Economy.”
Zhang Wenbo, a graduate from the School of Economics of Sichuan University, and a Ph.D. jointly cultivated by the University of North Carolina (UNC) in the United States, with a Ph.D. degree in population, resources and environmental economics. He is currently an assistant researcher at the Institute of Ecology and Sustainable Development, Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences. He is mainly engaged in research in the fields of resource and environmental economy and ecological civilization policy. He presided over a youth project of Shanghai Philosophy and Social Science Planning Office, and participated in a number of major research projects of the National Social Science Fund. Part of his research results were transformed into decision-making suggestions, and won two provincial and ministerial awards.
