Delegations tour Tesla Gigafactory, Yangshan Port in Shanghai ahead of Global Civilizations Dialogue   2025-07-09

Some international delegates headed to the Ministerial Meeting of the Global Civilizations Dialogue in Beijing later this week first visited Shanghai for an exclusive view of some of China's industrial achievements, exploring the local Tesla Gigafactory and Yangshan Port, the world's largest automated port.

During their stay in Shanghai, the delegates expressed their admiration for China's rapid development and enthusiasm for expanding relationships across multiple sectors. 

The Tesla Gigafactory, located in the Lingang Special Area, a key testing ground for economic and trade policies within the Shanghai Free Trade Zone, began delivering cars in 2019 and accounts for around 51 percent of the US carmaker's global output. 

Opened in December 2017, Yangshan Port's Phase IV fully automated terminal can handle 6.3 million TEUs a year, with 125 automated guided vehicles in operation.

The two-day Ministerial Meeting of the Global Civilizations Dialogue, which will kick off in Beijing tomorrow under the theme "Safeguarding Diversity of Human Civilizations for World Peace and Development," has drawn over 600 participants from around 140 countries and regions.

Tesla officials brief the delegates at the Shanghai Gigafactory, with China's manufacturing capabilities taking center stage.
