USD2.3 billion worth of deals inked at WAIC 2025 in Shanghai 2025-07-29

This year's WAIC, which ended on Monday, saw more than 3.05 million offline visitors, with over 800 exhibitors showcasing more than 3,000 cutting-edge technologies, according to figures released by the organizing committee.
In addition, multiple industry matching and scenario release conferences were held during the WAIC, attracting procurement delegations from over a dozen countries. The Future Tech Innovation Incubation Exhibition Area facilitated 2,000 effective connections between startups and investors, agreeing CNY268 million (USD37.3 million) in intended transactions.
The highlight projects covered iterative upgrades of intelligent computing platforms, deepening cross-regional cooperation, scenario applications, and others. For example, StepFun released Step 3, its next-generation foundational large language model with a decoding efficiency three times that of similar products, and it will make the model open source on July 31.
In addition, StepFun and chip manufacturers, including Huawei Ascend and MetaX, co-established the Mould Core Ecosystem Innovation Alliance to promote collaborative optimization of models and computing hardware.
At the application level, Shanghai Electric's humanoid robot and Qinglang Intelligent Technology's bipedal humanoid embodied service robot XMAN-F1 made their global debuts, highlighting AI's potential in industrial and service scenarios. IM Motors, Pony.ai, Chery Automobile, and Baidu Apollo provided Level-4 autonomous driving shuttle services in Pudong New Area.
Shanghai also released 12 new AI measures to provide comprehensive support for the industry in funding, talent recruitment, and other areas. The local government is expected to release an implementation plan for embodied intelligence.
In addition, the Global AI Innovation Governance Center was established at the WAIC, aiming to serve as a dialogue platform for AI control among countries and promote the coordination of rules.
The China Meteorological Administration donated the MAZU—Urban multi-disaster early warning intelligent agent to Djibouti and Mongolia, demonstrating the country's global AI tech responsibility. Setting up a World AI Cooperation Organization was also proposed at the conference, focusing on five major dimensions, such as innovation and development, to promote global AI governance collaboration.
