Chinese fashion brand Cotemp launches first offline store in Shanghai   2025-09-04

Chinese fashion brand Cotemp opened its first offline flagship "Conceive By Cotemp Yongyuan House" on Yongyuan Road in Shanghai last month.

Cotemp, a Chinese fashion brand founded in 2020, opened its first offline flagship "Conceive By Cotemp Yongyuan House" on Yongyuan Road in Shanghai last month, alongside the offline release of its 2025 Autumn/Winter ready-to-wear collection.

This new space presents the brand's entire product line and exclusive limited editions, along with a curated selection of items from global partner brands, offering customers a multidimensional lifestyle experience that extends beyond conventional retail.

Founded by Pratt Institute alumna Zhu Lanjing, Cotemp positions itself against fast-moving trends, favoring vintage aesthetics and structural experimentation to convey what Zhu calls "warm inspiration". Initially focusing on accessories, the label expanded into footwear, handbags, and sportswear before launching its first ready-to-wear line in 2024. Since July 2023, Cotemp has opened pop-up stores in Shanghai and Hangzhou to showcase its lifestyle philosophy.

Rooted in the founder's "anti-fashion" concept, the store blends a wrought-iron facade with large glass windows for openness. The interior features refurbished vintage furniture, such as wardrobes fitted with wrought-iron shelves, paired with handcrafted tiles imported from Portugal. Wooden fitting rooms inlaid with tiles divide the space where Cotemp's latest products and global artisanal items are displayed under warm lighting. The custom decor creates a home-like atmosphere.

The 25 AW line challenges conventional style boundaries by fusing military workwear symbols with feminine elements—such as embroidery with functional materials, fine wool with sporty cuts, and velvet jackets with cargo pants.

According to Zhu, Cotemp plans to update window displays regularly and host artist collaborations, turning the store into a multifunctional space for shopping and leisure.
