Curtain rose on the 2025 Kerry Parkside Bouldering Season, during which over 10 bouldering and climbing-themed activities will be organized at Pudong's Kerry Parkside.

Japanese World Cup champion climber and boulderer Yoshiyuki Ogata attended the opening ceremony last Friday. He has jointly designed the climbing routes for the Bouldering Season, covering full skill levels while balancing challenge with fun.

Ogata has won multiple medals in competition bouldering at IFSC Climbing World Cup events, including gold medals at Vail in 2019 and at Innsbruck in 2021. Ogata won the overall IFSC Men's Bouldering title for the 2021 and 2022 seasons.

"The charm of climbing lies in the fact that daring to reach out leads to breakthroughs," said Ogata. "Whether you're a beginner or an experienced climber, standing in front of the rock wall proves your courage."

Yoshiyuki Ogata took part in the design of the climbing routes.

Bouldering was originally a method of training for roped climbs and mountaineering, so climbers could practice specific moves at a safe distance from the ground. It can also help build stamina and increase finger strength.

The sport evolved into a separate discipline later, a new Olympic sport and now a popular social activity among youngsters.

The one-month Kerry Parkside Bouldering Season includes activities like bouldering experience for the public, professional climber's sharing session, neighborhood workshops, as well as the TBW·UA NEXT Tour competition facing youngsters.

Bouldering has become a popular social activity among youngsters.

Ogata's sharing sessions has been scheduled on September 21. The TBW·UA NEXT Tour competition on the same day is open to the public for free.

Those interested can follow the venue's official WeChat account "kerryparksideplus" for more information and register for Bouldering Season activities.
