McDonald's raises some product prices in China   2025-12-16

McDonald's China has raised the prices of some items by 50 Chinese cents to CNY1 (7 to 14 US cents).

Classic burgers, such as the Big Mac, Double Filet-O-Fish, and Filet-O-Fish, are CNY1 more expensive from Monday. Also snacks like the Chicken McNuggets and Big Chicken Cutlet saw their prices increase by CNY1. Meanwhile, items such as the McCrispy Chicken and medium-sized fries cost 50 Chinese cents more.

McDonald's reported revenue of USD7.1 billion in the third quarter of the year, up 3 percent from a year earlier, according to its latest earnings report. Net profit widened 1 percent to USD2.3 billion. The company had more than 7,100 restaurants in China as of Nov. 30.

"McDonald's is committed to providing customers with high-quality meals and great value options," the US fast food chain's Chinese branch told Yicai. "McDonald's is running the McDonald's Farm Food Festival - CNY10 Burger promotional campaign and will continue to bring consumers great value, delicious food, and convenient service."

In recent years, the price volatility of agricultural products, such as rice, flour, meat, cooking oil, and vegetables, has posed challenges to fast food companies in terms of cost control and risk management, according to analysts.

In fact, another US fast food chain -- Kentucky Fried Chicken -- also increased prices. In December last year, it announced it would hike prices by 2 percent, equal to 50 Chinese cents to CNY2, to counter cost fluctuations and ensure its sustainable and stable development.
