Longer trains for Metro Line 16 2019-11-26
Fifteen new trains, all with six carriages, are being added to the Metro’s Line 16. The first of them arrived in Shanghai on Monday.
Of the 33 trains currently running on Line 16, only 10 have six carriages, while the others have three, which, according to Shanghai Metro, is not enough for the increase in passenger numbers.
The new trains will be able to take 200 more passengers than the current six-carriage ones because four of the carriages will have seats facing backward or forward and two will be longer, the company said.
