Oldest bridge on Huangpu River to reopen in six months   2019-12-17

Songpu Bridge, the oldest bridge on the Huangpu River, will be open to vehicle traffic again by the end of June next year, Shanghai Road Administration Bureau said on Monday. A revamp of the 43-year-old, two-level bridge in Songjiang District started in July 2017. Work on the lower level, for pedestrian and non-motor vehicles, was completed at the end of last year. On Monday morning, the last piece of the new bridge surface on the upper level, for motor vehicles, was installed. The new surface still has to be treated before the bridge can reopen.
