The Blue Man Group in Shanghai debuts its residency in a live performance in Shanghai on July 17.

The Blue Man Group, an interactive theatrical production, has captivated audiences for 33 years.

Since its debut in 1991, the Blue Man Group has garnered Grammy and Emmy nominations, becoming a staple in popular culture worldwide with shows in over 25 countries and establishing residencies in cities like Boston, Chicago and Las Vegas in the United States, and a global audience exceeding 50 million.

On July 17, the Blue Man Group in Shanghai officially opened at A.F.A ROJO Art and Culture Space, kicking off its residency in Shanghai.

As the only exclusive residency in Asia, the Blue Man Group in Shanghai features the original cast, an upgraded storyline, and audiovisual and immersive experiences, as well as integrating Shanghai elements.

Known for its iconic blue characters and unique performance style that blends music, miming, multimedia and interactive art, it transcends language barriers and appeals to audiences of all ages.

With stage props and a plot design ensuring full audience participation and interaction, elements like falling streamers, open-ended interactive designs and creative performances inspired by everyday life make for an audio and visual feast.

Compared to the Shanghai performance of the Blue Man Group in 2019, the newly choreographed production introduces the female character Rockstar, replacing the traditional live band to deliver perfect musical performances.

Presented by Live Nation, the world's leading live entertainment company, the opening of the Blue Man Group in Shanghai also marks the official launch of the A.F.A ROJO Art and Culture Space, part of the new commercial complex in Shanghai, which combines art, a park, digital operations and commerce within a building rich in industrial and artistic history.
